
You live and study in the home of your private teacher. Books and resources are provided for your use during the course. You take home a personal study folder. Books are available at cost price.
Teaching homes vary from modern apartments to family houses. A description of
your teacher's house and the facilities is sent on receipt of your booking.
Accommodation is of a comfortable family standard. Private washing facilities
are offered where possible. All homes are inspected regularly.
The “Executive Option” guarantees a private bathroom or shower room. This may not be en suite.
Telephone: Young students may telephone parents to let them know of their safe
arrival. At other times, students may use a charge card or reverse transfer
calls from the teacher's telephone
Computers: Teachers with internet connected computers may allow you to use
them on an occasional basis. Teachers may request a contribution towards
telephone costs for using your own laptop if this involves dialling a foreign
exchange.
Electricity: English power is 240 volt and uses a three square-pin plug. An adaptor
may be required for laptops, mobiles, shavers etc.
Breakfast: Continental style or a traditional English breakfast.
Lunch: Often a light meal, salad, soup, omelette etc.
Dinner: Usually the main meal of the day, served between
6pm and 9pm, depending on family habit.
Take part in normal family life with activities such as shopping, visiting friends and family, TV, videos, use of computer and sharing family hobbies and outings.Your host is happy to show you round the local area. Teachers have details of tourist attractions in Kent and the London area and can advise on any public transport requirements.
Children under the age of 18 receive three local visits a week accompanied by
the teacher or family member, included in the price. Activities depend on
the availability of facilities and the child’s interests.
Specific excursions, such as golf, horse riding and trips to London may be
arranged at extra cost.
Your teacher is happy to meet you at the nearest rail or bus station free of
charge. Links to web sites giving details of public transport, timetables
and connections are on Where are we? Please notify us in advance of arrival
time.
Alternatively, competitively priced taxi transfers from ports, airports and
Eurostar can be arranged. Please ask for details at time of booking.
Courses start any Sunday during the year and last from one week plus. Most students arrive on a Sunday afternoon and leave in the morning of their day of departure, depending on travel arrangements.
